More model information

This was a project I’ve been working on in the first half of december. It was a christmas gift for my wife, who is a huge Stargate fan. I’ve modelled it completely in Blender over the course of about 3 weeks. A friend 3D printed it with resin for me. This was my second 3D model that’s been printed.

Find renders, photos and the STL file for 3D printing on my website.

The Stargate and socket are two separate pieces. Together they have close to 900k triangles since I had to model all the details. The next step is to paint it as soon as my model colors arrive.

There a a lot of lessons learned: Some details are too small, some elements too thin and I forgot to cut out the chevron selectors in the socket. I only cut out the gate itself, so there was some filing done where the gate sinks into the socket. ^^’ Also, I learned a lot regarding modelling efficiently.
