以灰鯖鮫的脊椎骨製成,於中心位置穿有一孔,周緣修整平滑,側面可見其骨質結構,一般認為屬裝飾之用。
灰鯖鮫又稱尖吻鯖鯊,臺灣南部、北部、東北部及東部海域均有分布。學者們推測十三行文化人群的漁獵方式,包含使用漁網圍捕海魚、乘坐獨木舟或竹筏用鏢槍捕魚,而鯊魚極有可能是用鏢槍捕獲。
該遺址出土的魚骨很多,並將其作為工具或飾品的材料,說明魚類是當時主要食物來源之一,以及靈活運用海洋資源的文化特色。
This bone bead is made of the Vertebra vertebra of Shortfin mako shark (Isurus oxyrinchus). The bead has a drilled hole in the middle. The bead is polished on the edges but has the inner bone structure exposed., the side of the bead was worked as smooth edges, with inner structure exposed. It is assumed to be an ornament. A large amount of fish bones was excavated from the Shih-san-hang Site; indicating that fish were one of the main food sources during prehistory. Many of the fish bones were modified into tools or ornaments; this showcases how the Shih-san-hang people had the knowledge and techniques to utilize marine resources creatively.
