An original design of a character I call Skullface or Skully. Loosely based on the anatomy of maned wolfs. Modeled in 3Dsmax and texture hand painted in Paint tool SAI.
I created this model for experimental reasons. First, to experiment with planes and opacity on creatures with fur. In the end, I discovered that it is rather troublesome. Especially without any software such as substance painter or 3D coat.
The second reason is to animate a quadroped, which will be the next step. So will update this with a rig and animation at some point.
Due to that this model only has a textured diffuse map. Which also was good to experiemnt with a cartoonish texture.
None of this model is rather refined though. Most effort was spent on the skull which was very fun to model and paint.
