Sleeping Lady is the name given to the 12.2 cm long clay figure discovered in the Hypogeum of Hal-Saflieni in Malta. The subterranean complex from the Neolithic period has been studied since the early 20th century and the lying female figure was sometimes interpreted as a personification of death, as a representation of the temple sleep or as a mother goddess.
