More model informationThe 137 ft schooner Southwest was built in 1866 at Ogdenburg, New York. It was traveling light in 1898 in heavy smoke and fog off the Huron Islands, Lake Superior when it grounded and eventually sank. The crew escaped in the skiff to Skanee. The captain blamed the stranding on the lack of a fog signal on the islands which had been distroyed over the winter in 1890 and which was being rebuilt the summer of 1898. Now it is the most popular dive site in the Huron Islands. The model was created from 1,927 30 megapixel images shot on one DPV dive by Andrew Goodman in the 2023 season.
