More model information

For my chessboard, I decided to base my model of the 3D chessboard from Star Trek. I chose this as I felt it would be a challenge to create instead of traditional chessboards. This chessboard in particualar is also very distinct and unique which I found appealing.

I gathered reference images of the chessboard including working drawings which were imported into the Blender scene to assist in modelling. Colours used for the board and pieces all reflect the real life product. Base colours and grunge detail was applied in Substance Painter. Other detail such as the Star Trek logo and tile ridges were also made in Substance, however I first had to create the Alpha maps in Photoshop which were then imported to be used a brushes/stamps.
