Statue in Jardim Botanico of C.F.P. Martius3D Model
This is a nice secluded statue of a famous German botanist C.F.P von Martius which sits surrounded by lush vegetation in the Botanical Gardens of Rio de Janeiro. To create the 3D model I shot 59 6k portrait images with a Sony A7 on a tripod, zeiss 24mm lens, and processed the images with Reality Capture. I feel like RC did a great job on all the vegetation as usually plants don’t scan very well.
Then for the panoramic images I shot two segmented 7 exposure HDR panos with my Nikon D40, 8mm Rokinon fisheye lens, nodal ninja, tripod, and promote remote control. These were each 70 photos, making a grand total of 200 shots to make this diorama. With both cameras I shoot a passport color chart which helps color balance and match all the photos before processing with Lightroom, Photomatix, PTgui, Nuke, then Maya. Unfortunately it is about 1.2 million polygons as I am lazy about optimizing, but I did bake the textures down to save space. Google Maps pano here. https://goo.gl/maps/1UG86v4mRMx
