The statue of Minerva, the Roman goddess of wisdom and strategic warfare, justice, law, victory, and the sponsor of arts, trade, and strategy. Minerva is not a patron of violence.

Behind the statue of Minerva are statues of miners hauling a basket of coal.

The large statue stands outside the Glamorgan building at Cardiff University. The building was erected 1909 and designed by Vincent Harris and Moodie and built ata cost of 67,000 pounds.
