Description: Staurolite is a reddish-brown to black nesosilicate mineral that crystallizes in the monoclinic system, has resinous to vitreous luster. It is also known as cross-stone; fairy stone; grenatite; staurotide. From Greek stauros, cross, alluding to the cruciform twins it displays in some cases. Staurolite is commonly found as 60° twins (https://skfb.ly/6Ut6v and https://skfb.ly/6TJFS), and less common as 90° cruciform twins (https://skfb.ly/6TYuR).
