“Saints Archangels Michael and Gabriel” Wooden Church of Stroieşti Structure ID: EWAP1026LG-STR-025-STO
The church was constructed using horizontal wooden beams with dovetail joints on a stone foundation. A local particularity of the structure is the presence of the decorated wooden pillars called ştenapi, typically connected between the brackets and the base plates for increased support. The plan consists of a western open porch, narthex, nave, and recessed sanctuary, with a bell tower above the narthex. The porch has an open view of the attic from below, due to having no ceiling. The insides preserve a richly painted iconostasis and narthex-nave wall, with a unique painted door on the narthex side. The church has not been used since the interwar period, preserving an archaic atmosphere.
