Sun Thien Kong Temple, Banda, Maluku, Indonesia3D ModelNoAI
Sun Thien Kong Temple (IDN-MLK-MLT-BDA-S-018) is a Confucian temple complex located in the Chinese quarter near the harbor and market of Banda Neira. Regarded locally as a merchants’ temple, it functioned both as a place of worship and a school. It is a testament to the once thriving Chinese merchant community involved in the spice trade in the Banda islands.
The complex includes the main temple building dedicated for the worship of Dewi Kwan Im, a side building, and a well. The temple is a fusion of local traditional architecture and typical Chinese elements - with its exposed timber, overhanging gable roof, intricately carved colored wood panelling and altars.
