I found an old blender website that had tutorial for blender version 2.5 (I think?). I thought it’d be a fun challenge to try and follow that old tutorial and see how well it translates to working in modern versions of blender.... which is to say, not well. Only two of the four materials actually came out looking decent.
This is a swatch of felt, made using the tutorial here: http://planetblender.com/makingproceduralfabricmaterials/ Because of the way I had to bake the procedural texture, you kinda gotta zoom in to see the detail in the felt fabric. I ended up having to bake it in 4k quality.
If you decide to use the tutorial, good luck. It’s old and outdated and kinda hard to follow because the nodes have changed so much since this version of blender.
(Side note: I used Blender 3.0 to model these fabrics.)
