T4 Bacteriophage Virus - Pt 2 of 4 - Tail-Sheath3D ModelNoAI
This is the 2nd of 4 parts of an instructional model of the iconic T4 Bacteriophage (phage). This model is designed to be 3d printed and assembled for instructional use. This part includes the phage’s tail sheath.
version 8 revision 1. This model will be updated in the future for increased detail and accuracy.
The tail-sheath and base-plate parts slide onto the tail-core (attached to the capsid part). these parts are then held in place by the tail-tip part, which attaches to the tail core with a bayonet-style mechanism.
Bacteriophages are Viruses that infect prokaryotes (bacteria and archaea). Phages are the most numerous biological entities on Earth. The role played by phages in Earth’s ecosystems is not well understood, but is certainly not trivial!
