More model informationThis is a mould of the Taghboy Sheela-na-Gig taken by Jim Higgins when the carving was first discovered. Jim informed us that the carving was first seen on the gable end of the church during a survey to assist the cutting of ivy on the building. The ivy was cut away and the stone tell from the top of the building, knocked by a gust of wind. It was recorded, and noted that there is a slot for a cross in the top of the stone. The stone was later placed back on top of the church on the Gable end. This model is an invert of the carving as it is taken from the mould. It is interesting to compare to the 3D model of the actual stone, which was recorded with a zoom lens camera.
