Takin (NHMW-Zoo-MAMM ST382)3D Model
3D scan of a mounted skin of a takin (Budorcas taxicolor). The NHM Vienna is the only museum in Central Europe to have a taxidermized takin on display. This animal is related to sheep and goats. Its shape combines features of cows, chamois, goats, sheep, and antelopes, therefore older literature includes names such as cattle chamois and gnu goat. This takin was bought in London in 1908.
The takin is Number 92 of the NHM Top 100 and can be found in Hall 36 of the NHM Vienna.
