This 1m x 1m test pit was excavated during a watching brief on the construction of foundations in the South Range of the ongoing Guildhall redevelopment led by VINCI Construction and City of York Council. The test pit allowed us to investigate a sequence of Roman surfaces in an important location between the river crossing and the south-west entrance to the Fortress.
