More model informationA traditional Japanese style Tetsubin. This kettle is styled after Nambu ironware, a hand crafted and highly detailed item used in tea ceremonies.
Across the main body and lid of the teapot are “Arare” (protrusions) that given it a distinctive dot style. These cast iron kettles weren’t enamled and changed visually over time, lasting for decades or even generations.
For this peice I focused on the shape and texturing, creating a worn metalic surface to showcase the age of the kettle. Along with the kettle I created a series of smaller cups and a resting plate to tie the peice together.
