More model information

According to the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, the governing body of the Armenian Apostolic Church, the Cross of the Holy Sign holds a piece of the cross upon which Jesus Christ was crucified (Shakhkian, 2009:70). The relic was brought to Armenia by St. Hripsime in the late 3rd century AD, and since then has remained a symbol of protection for the Armenian people.

Reality Capture photogrammetry model created of the piece, as well as structured light scan data collected during our Haghpat Monastery 2018 3D Digitization Survey.

We would like to thank Arthur Danielyan and Narine Musayelyan for their assistance with the translation. Special thanks as well to Father Ter Atom qahana Asatryan, Priest of the Haghpat Monastery.
