More model informationSituated at the entrance of the Scottish National War Memorial (SNMW) within Edinburgh Castle, the doorway is flanked by the Lion and the Unicorn, the heraldic beasts of England and Scotland. These were carved by Phillis Bone, a young sculptor who had graduated from Edinburgh College of Art around the time of the construction of the SNWM. In 1927 the architect Sir Robert Lorimer and 200 Scottish artists and craftsmen created a serene Hall of Honour and Shrine. Phylis played a prominent part in the execution of the War Memorial.
