Located on the east side of State Street in Ellsworth, Hancock County, Maine, north of and imediately adjoining the First Congregational Church of Ellsworth at the northeast corner of State & Church Streets, The Old Burial Ground is owned by the City of Ellsworth thanks to its benefactor, Melatiah Jordan. On the 11th of September 1818, Melatiah Jordan granted the parcel to the Inhabitants of Ellsworth, as described in the deed recorded in Book 38, Page 417 at the Hancock County Registry of Deeds, being a portion of the first lot, a 49-acre parcel, described in the deed from Maria Teresa deGregoire & Bartholomy deGregoire dated the 13th of December 1788 recorded in Book 38, Page 518.
