More model informationThis model shows Trench 3, excavated in October 2021, at the old site of The Glenlivet Distillery at Upper Drumin. Trench 3 measured 9m long by 3-4m wide and was located over the southern range of the distillery. The long wall is the external southern wall of the building range and was c. 0.6m wide. A rubble-built structure built up against the inside (northern) face of this wall are the remains of two fireboxes which probably were used to heat both the wash still and the spirit still. At the eastern end of this feature a number of artefacts suggest that the spirit safe may have been located there. The work was undertaken as part of the Pioneering Spirit Project - a partnership between the National Trust for Scotland and The Glenlivet.
