Michael Meszaros, bronze; unveiled by Sir James Gobbo on 16 December 2008. Commissioned: Grollo - Ruzzene Foundation. The inscription notes its purpose ‘to commemorate Italian Immigration and all migrants, to Australia.’ The installation rewards close viewing and dynamic perspective, transiting to match the gaze of each figure in the family.
While some of this effect is, hopefully, preserved in the captured model, in-person encounter is necessarily more effective.
