Area of outcrop found S of The Rigg, SW of Lartington, County Durham.
This section is one of many areas of the same exposure of outcrop adorned with carvings, usually separated by either fissures or turf coverage. Discovered by Paul Brown in 2004, this carving is referenced RIG3b in his and Barbara Brown’s 2008 publication ‘Prehistoric Rock Art in the Northern Dales’, describing:
‘Five cups, pecked cross and grooves. Two ovals, pecked ring and two parallel grooves’.
In 2007, NADRAP found the carving had been very recently uncovered and referenced it ‘Lartington, The Rigg 14’ on ERA.
