Raised lettering ‘E I C’ and a symbol resembling an elaborate ‘CHI-RHO’ (a stylised X and P, the first two letters of ‘CHRISTOS’ in Greek), a Christian emblem.

…though it has been suggested that it actually refers to the East India Company but I think this would only be feasible if it were tin…
