Europos is one of the most important archaeological sites in the region, with finds from prehistoric times. It is mainly known because the famous archaic statue of Kouros (650 BC) was found here in natural size (height 1.80m), Cycladic style and it is the only one discovered in the northern Greek area, kept in the archaeological museum of Kilkis. Also important findings of the area are the gold bracelet of the box-shaped tomb and the gold wreath kept in the archaeological museum of Thessaloniki. The ancient city of Europa is located approximately 1000m. southwest from the current village, on the hill range that dominates the area. Important burial monuments of the late Roman times have been discovered there, which were shaped and the area has become open to visitors.
