Toxodon platensis - left upper molar tooth3D Model
Description: This is a 3D laser surface scan of the left upper molar tooth of Toxodon platensis which is in two fragments. It is between 29,000 and 11,700 years old. This has been scanned as part of the Museum’s Darwin Fossil Mammals digitisation project. Find out more at www.nhm.ac.uk/darwinsfossils.
Comments: This tooth was fragile at the time it was recovered by Darwin. The specimen is in two parts and cannot be handled without great risk of further damage. By scanning the fragments we are able to digitally reconstruct the tooth without risk to the specimen.
Specimen number: NHMUK PV M 100016
