The high-precision Artec Space Spider, a high-res camera, and Artec Studio 16’s powerful photo texture capabilities were used to create this 3D model of Nike’s Kyrie 7.
The Space Spider is perfect for scanning small objects or the intricate details of larger ones; this made it the ideal choice for the task.
Preparation involved placing the shoe on a rotary plate in a white box to eliminate glare and shadows, tying the laces in such a way that they would not dangle loosely and change position during the process, and widening the tongue and collar to make the interior surfaces visible.
The sneaker was scanned and photographed from two positions: upright for the top and interior, and then with the shoe hung upside down on a short pole to capture the sole.
Artec Studio 16 wrapped about 140 images around the flawless scan data from the Space Spider.
