Didn't this model used to be downloadable?
@Jam141 Hey there! I'm assuming you're probably new to using models in unity and making their textures. I made this one almost 3 years ago with 4 materials. Admittedly it should have been done using a single material, but I was still learning. You are correct in saying there is no emission texture baked in. That's because I originally made it as just a metallic blade without the emission. I just added it in later with sketchfab's 3d editor because it was more visually appealing to me. However this won't have an effect in unity as it's super easy to add.
When you create the blade's material in unity you'll have to tick the emission box to true. Then don't put any maps in the emission section, just change the colour (the large bar next to the texture map section) to a blue that you like. You can change the intensity of the material at the bottom of that colour selector. After this it might look just like a flat colour with no depth or detail if the intensity is high enough. To properly change it into that "glow" seen in the model here, you'll need to update your unity project to a URP project. This will add post processing effects to your game so that you can get that "glow" effect, as well as a bunch of other visual quirks you can play with in your project.
There are plenty of tutorials online showing how to do that. It's fairly quick to do, however it can interfere with some unity asset store files if they weren't designed for URP support. Most asset store files should say if they support URP or HDRP in unity.
I would recommend you potentially look into more research on materials in unity. Learning why each texture map is coloured the way they are and how they all work will be beneficial for you going forward with any other projects you make or other objects you download.
I double checked myself in unity just to make sure and everything seemed in working order. Make sure to change the *scale factor* in the model import settings, as objects always get exported really tiny, and this will keep any other imports of the model consistent, rather than simply scaling it up in the transform component. That way if you need to scale the model in a game you can manipulate it's scale properly. Let me know if that solves your problem or if you have any other issues!
I have tried to use this a few times in Unity, it does not have emission, and the blade is barely blue. The emission texture is just a black square...
@Brock.Billings Sorry for such a delayed response, school has been busy. I would love the link to be posted! And I would be happy to bring more of your models to life.
The adaptation process is a long one, so progress may be slow. However, I'll comment on more of your designs once I get them adapted. I'll also be adding several of them to my list of projects!
Once again, thank you for your work, and I look forward to making and sharing more of your designs!
@IronMan85000 Also I don't suppose you'd want to bring some more of my models to life would you? I don't have the capability to do it, but you've adapted it amazingly!
@IronMan85000 Dude that came out amazing! When you said 3D print I just assumed you meant like a keychain or something small, not a life sized replica! Now I only wish I had the skills to put one together myself XD. Would you mind if I left your link in the description of my model? I'm sure there are others that would also love to print it out
@Brock.Billings I just got the upload complete! Thank you so much for sharing this. Here's that link: thingiverse.com/thing:6271618
@IronMan85000 Absolutely! As long as credit is given as you mentioned. If you could also reply with a link that'd be awesome! I love sharing my work so letting others also have access to it is great!
Thank you so much for this! I added some details to the blade for 3D printing, and changed some of the layout so it would be stable enough to swing. Could I have your permission to post it onto Thingiverse so other people could 3d print it as well? I would provide all of the credit to your model. It's absolutely amazing, thank you for your work!
