Travertine Stone Base3D Model
A base dedicated to Emperor Antoninus Pius, who reigned from 138 to 161 CE. The inscription is evidence of the institution of alimenta in the town of Sestino, an assistance program started by Trajan in 103 CE, and reinstated by the emperors of the second century CE. The dedication to Antoninus Pius, which can be dated to after his death, has a fragment of stone added to it with the inscription ALIM[—] which came from the Sestino baths and confirms how the municipality successfully obtained funds from the Institutio alimentaria.
