More model informationLincoln Park, Chicago, IL Louis Rebisso’s 1891 sculpture of General Ulysses S. Grant, located near the southern entrance to Lincoln Park overlooking the pond to the west and and a parking lot to the east. After his capture of Vicksburg in the Civil War, Grant took command of the entire Union forces, and helped to end the war in 1865. Grant became president in 1869, but it is for his tremendous military actions that he is honored with this statue which depicts him ready for battle. It was dedicated in 1891. The statue overlooks Cannon Drive at the south end of the zoo.
