More model information- Period/Epoch: Quaternary/Pleistocene
- Rock Formation: Unknown
- State, County: Wyoming, Albany
Taxonomy: Mammalia>Lagomorpha
Lagomorphs are a sister group to rodents, and consist of current-day rabbits, hares, and pikas. Lagomorphs first show up in the Eocene and have an extensive fossil record originating in Asia and radiating out through Asia, Europe, and North America over the Cenozoic. The fossil record lagomorphs and modern lagomorphs have a significant amount of taxonomic separation, which makes comparing and studying them as a cohesive group difficult. This specimen, a tibia, is from the Pleistocene and is likely closer to modern lagomorphs than other fossil lagomorphs.
