Vårfrukyrkan, Skänninge, Sweden 3D Model
The model shows the north side of the Medieval Church, Our Lady (Vårfrukyrkan), in the central part of Skänninge, Sweden. Outside the north façade the remains of a sacristy, chapel and a porch, connected to the fourteen century church, was excavated. The east half of the building have been the sacristy, then follow the chapel and the porch with an entrance in the west. The excavation also revealed a previously unknown older church, probably from the twelfth century. Only some foundations was possible to excavate since the rest of it is cowered by the current fourteen century church. You can see this stones at the end of a long row beside the church wall in the model. It’s the biggest ones furthest east, on each side of one of the buttress. We also found a piece of a headstone from the eleventh century with a runic inscription whitch shows that there probably have been a wooden church from that period. The model was photographed and processed by Johan Stenvall and from 1063 photos.
