Wat Maha Phruettharam was built during the reigns of King Rama IV and Rama V. The murals of the ubosot are painted in a style characteristic of the reign of King Rama IV, with realistic landscapes with aerial perspective (i.e. shading to create a sense of depth in the landscape) and buildings with European architecture mixed with Thai features. The murals feature the 13 ascetic practices for monks.
