An incomplete, copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative brooch dating c. AD 50-175. The right wing, pin, spring, part of the bow, the foot, the catch plate, the central pierced crest, and part of the left wing are missing.
The remaining part of the head is 9.49mm thick at its apex and 21.15mm wide across the remaining section of the wings. Most of the right wing is missing whilst part of the very end of the left wing is missing. The wings are at an oblique angle to the rest of the head. On the left wing, there does not appear to be any remaining section of an end cap, which, when combined with the evidence of a pierced crest rather than a rearward facing hook, would suggest that this could have been a Harlow type brooch and thus dating it to c. AD 50-80.
