Boulder on private land near Whitton Burn, south of Rothbury, Northumberland.
This carving sits within 10 metres of ‘Whitton Burn 1a’ and is referenced on the Beckensall Archive (BA) as ‘Whitton Burn 1b’. It was subsequently added to ERA by NADRAP in 2008 and the motifs were described as:
“Centrally located is a large cup-shaped depression which, without further adornment, could be naturally formed by weathering or possibly damage.”

The model was created from 2 stereo pairs captured by Joe Gibson of NADRAP Team 3 in January 2006. The imagery forms part of the full NADRAP archive deposited with Historic England & Northumberland County Council.
