A complete lead or lead alloy bi convex decorated spindle whorl, of probably the Medieval period, dating from c. AD 1100 to AD 1450.

The spindle whorl is sub circular in shape, and lentoid in section. The obverse and reverse have different designs. The obverse has lots of closely placed diagonal rays which terminate with a pellet. The reverse has plain diagonal rays, spaced further apart with a pellet between them. The central hole is circular in shape and has been cast / set roughly centrally.
