Wooden feretory with representation of Madonna
Feretory (Greek pheretron, Latin feretrum) is a portable shrine containing the relics of a saint. In Ancient Greece, it was a stretcher-like device with wooden handles for carrying figures of deities.
Fertory (feretron) is a special type of paintings or sculptures that were used not only during the procession in church celebrations, but also as portable altars during pilgrimages. This late Baroque procession float, with rich bas-relief and polychrome, from the late 17th or early 18th century.
