One of many sword grips recovered, this would have been closed in leather and is likely from a 1788 Pattern Light Cavalry Sabre. It probably belonged to one of the Light Dragoons regiments on board, those being the 8th, 19th, 21st and 24th regiments. Cornet G A Borgoyne, survived and wrote most of the Correct Narrative of the sinking, was a member of the 8th Light Dragoons.
