More model informationThis wooden template was used for casting clock pendulum bobs (the round weight at the base of the pendulum). The template would have formed the shape of the bob in sand and molten metal would be poured into the mould.
The template comes from the Samuel Deacon workshop collection, donated by the Deacon family in 1951. Samuel Deacon (1746-1816) is one of the best known village clockmakers in Leicestershire. He lived in and worked in Barton in the Beans and was a skilled mechanic and a well-known Baptist Minister.
