WWII Imperial Japanese Army Type 95 Ha-Go Tank
This tank was discovered during the archeological survey of the Leo Palace Resort property, Guam. The Type 95 Ha-Go tank was built by the Imperial Japanese Army in the 1930’s and designed to keep pace with a mechanized infantry unit to speeds of 40/kph. The Type 95 tank held 3 crewmen, a commander, a hull machine gunner and a driver. The primary armament was a Type 94 37mm tank gun with either high explosive (HE) or armor piercing (AP) ammunition. The tank was also fitted with two 7.7mm Type 97 machine guns as secondary armament, one mounted in the hull and the other on the rear of the turret. This tank was found with munitions throughout indicating it’s final disposition was the result of being in a fire fight.
