More model informationThis fragment is part of a larger antefix that would have been plastered onto wooden beams to protect them but also as decoration. The antefix would have depicted a Roman Goddess Nike with a vegetal motif, reminicent of old Italic temples and in a neo-Attic style. This particular fragment depicts the lower half of the Roman Goddess Nike and shows a flower which is part of the vegetal motif. The fragment has complex motifs and a plenty of detail compared to antefixes which followed it. This fragment dates from the Augustan period, having been discovered at Horti Sallustiani and similar to elements from the house of a freedman of Augustus.
