Youndegin meteorite (NHMW-Min G4979)3D Model
3D scan of the Youndegin meteorite. With 110 x 65 cm and 909 kg, this iron meteorite is the largest and heaviest specimen of the meteorite collection. It is the second-largest known fragment of this meteorite (i.e., the largest one is 2628 kg), found in 1892 east of the settlement of York, a small town about 80 km East of Perth in Western Australia. It is on display in the Meteorite Hall since October 21th, 1896.
The Youndegin meteorite can be seen in Hall 5 of the NHM Vienna.
