The original medieval castle of Znojmo is dating back to the 12th century. It was founded as the biggest of Bohemian strongholds on the border with Austria long before the current city grew in front of its gates. However, after the 30-years war, the old castle was deemed unnecessary and as the result in 1710-1720 it has been extensively rebuilt and transformed into so-called Deblín chateau and town brewery. Which continued to grow for 300 years swallowing the outer castle and surrounding the romanesque rotunda of st. Catherine (national monument) until it has been shut down in 2009. Since 2010 is the whole area of the former castle owned by the city of Znojmo which is trying to gradually revitalize it.
The 3D model was done in cooperation with the South Moravian Museum in Znojmo, which financed the aerial photography and processing of the model - the full quality model will be used for the creation of a new exhibition about the history of the city…
