Across the world, around 2 billion people celebrate the Lunar New Year, which in many Asian countries is a public holiday. Lunar New Year begins on the day of the second new Moon after the solstice, which always occurs in late December. In 2024, Lunar New Year starts Saturday 10 February and ends Saturday 24 February.

QVMAG's Lunar New Year celebrations take place on 17 February to celebrate the Year of the Dragon. The Dragon is regarded as an auspicious and extraordinary creature. It symbolizes power, nobility, honour, luck, and success. QVMAG holds many collection items depicting dragons.
