Located in Florida, the Cape Canaveral Space Force Station (CCSFS) has played a crucial role in the history of space exploration. It has served as a launch and support site for numerous space missions, including those related to human spaceflight and satellite launches. The hangars and facilities at the Cape have played vital roles in spacecraft preparation, integration, and maintenance. Hangar C is particularly significant due to its ties to the Redstone missile and its derivatives, which were adapted for use in space exploration, especially in the Mercury program, the United States' first human spaceflight program. The Mercury-Redstone launch vehicle, based on the work of Wernher von Braun, was used for the suborbital flights of the Mercury astronauts. The Hangar site played a crucial role in the testing, assembling, and preparing the rockets before they were transported to the launch pad for missions such as Alan Shepard's historic suborbital flight in 1961.
