The artifacts presented here come from the Castleton Medical College Collection currently housed in VTSU-Castleton's Old Chapel. Founded in 1818, the Castleton Medical College was the first medical school in Vermont and trained doctors until its closing in 1861. The Castleton Medical College building, known as the "Old Chapel," was moved several times over the last two centuries before being established in its current location near the entrance to the Castleton campus. The artifacts in this collection date both to the era of the school and to the decades after its closing. The artifacts scanned here are the start of a new digital collection, to be completed by students and faculty in the VTSU Anthropology, Archaeology, and Geography program.
