From mid-19th century to the 1970s, the marble industry played an important role in shaping the life and economy of Rutland County, and particularly the towns of Proctor and West Rutland, Vermont. The VTSU3D Project is working with the Vermont Marble Museum in Proctor, the West Rutland Historical Society, the Vermont Historical Society, and others to create high-resolution 3D images of a robust sample of tools, sculpture, and other artifacts from the Vermont marble industry. Special thanks to Kevin Thornton, Anne Tait, Molly Wickes, and the Trustees of the Vermont Marble Museum; Mary Reczek of the West Rutland Historical Society; and Steve Perkins, Teresa Greene, and Amanda Gustin of the Vermont Historical Society. 3D models prepared by students and faculty in ANT-3160 3D Imaging and Virtual Exhibits at VTSU-Castleton.
