Welcome to this collection of dimensionally accurate photogrammetric 3D models of all 29 surviving original examples of the world-famous sculptures of prehistoric animals known as the Crystal Palace Dinosaurs. The sculptures were created in 1853–1855 by artist Benjamin Waterhouse Hawkins and were the first attempt to model extinct animals (only four are technically dinosaurs) at full size based on fossil remains. The sculptures are protected as Grade I listed monuments.

The models provide detailed point-in-time records of the state of preservation of the sculptures and are being used to help inform their repair and conservation. We use the 1854 scientific names, noting current names (following Witton & Michel, 2022).

Most of the sculptures were surveyed by the Historic England Geospatial Survey Team in 2021 but the collection also includes work carried out by Rhys Griffin & Anthony Lewis/Friends of Crystal Palace Dinosaurs (FCPD).
