One of the main advantages of photogrammetry at the Vacone villa is the ability to model and view the relationship of above and below ground features. The villa is constructed on an artificial terrace, supported by a lower cryptoporticus that acts as a buttress. Various other subterranean features lie beneath the main terrace. This model shows a tunnel dug into the hillside to give access to a well. The wellhead opens into room within the residential sector of the villa. Click on the annotations to take a tour through the underground complex, then see the residential rooms paved with mosaic floors on the main terrace.
Combines 3D models built in 2016, 2017, and 2018 using Agisoft Photoscan. Scalebars, North Arrow, and ground plane created in Blender.
