More model informationSheela-na-Gig3d was supported by the Heritage Council of Ireland Two Sheela’s are located on the gable end of a shed in the townland of Screeg. The carvings are thought to have come from the nearby Screeg Castle (RO042-147001) which may be an O’Kelly Castle first mentioned c. 1470. This smaller Sheela to the left of the building sits with her legs spread and what appears to be hands over the legs. Her facial features, while badly damaged include an open mouth and eyes. There are no identifiable breasts, but her vulva appears to be enlarged. This may be to highlight the area, or displaying the hands. Compared with the other carvings RO042-091001 this is a cruder carving. The Screeg Sheela’s are on private land.
